The Sermon on the Mount<\/h3>\n

5\u00a0One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him,\u00a02\u00a0and he began to teach them.<\/p>\n

The Beatitudes<\/h3>\n
\n

3\u00a0\u201cGod blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
\nfor the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
\n4\u00a0God blesses those who mourn,
\nfor they will be comforted.
\n5\u00a0God blesses those who are humble,
\nfor they will inherit the whole earth.
\n6\u00a0God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
\nfor they will be satisfied.
\n7\u00a0God blesses those who are merciful,
\nfor they will be shown mercy.
\n8\u00a0God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
\nfor they will see God.
\n9\u00a0God blesses those who work for peace,
\nfor they will be called the children of God.
\n10\u00a0God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
\nfor the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

11\u00a0\u201cGod blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you\u00a0and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.<\/p>\n
