Jesus Teaches Nicodemus<\/h3>\n

1 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus\u00a0who was a member of the Jewish ruling council.<\/p>\n

2\u00a0He came to Jesus at night and said, \u201cRabbi,\u00a0we know\u00a0that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs\u00a0you are doing if God were not with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

3\u00a0Jesus replied,\u00a0\u201cVery truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

4\u00a0\u201cHow can someone be born when they are old?\u201d Nicodemus asked. \u201cSurely they cannot enter a second time into their mother\u2019s womb to be born!\u201d<\/p>\n

5\u00a0Jesus answered,\u00a0\u201cVery truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.<\/p>\n

6\u00a0Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit\u00a0gives birth to spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n

7\u00a0You should not be surprised at my saying, \u2018You\u00a0must be born again.\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

8\u00a0The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

9\u00a0\u201cHow can this be?\u201d\u00a0Nicodemus asked.<\/p>\n

10\u00a0\u201cYou are Israel\u2019s teacher,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>said Jesus,\u00a0\u201cand do you not understand these things?<\/span><\/p>\n

11\u00a0Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know,\u00a0and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

12\u00a0I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

13\u00a0No one has ever gone into heaven\u00a0except the one who came from heaven\u2014the Son of Man.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

14\u00a0Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness,\u00a0so the Son of Man must be lifted up,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

15\u00a0that everyone who believes\u00a0may have eternal life in him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

16\u00a0For God so loved\u00a0the world that he gave\u00a0his one and only Son,\u00a0that whoever believes\u00a0in him shall not perish but have eternal life.<\/p>\n
