{"id":351,"date":"2014-05-27T20:37:38","date_gmt":"2014-05-28T00:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jeddoumc.org\/?p=351"},"modified":"2014-05-27T20:37:38","modified_gmt":"2014-05-28T00:37:38","slug":"the-privileges-of-being-christian-sermon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jeddoumc.org\/?p=351","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;The Privileges of Being Christian&#8221; sermon"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"heading passage-class-0\">\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-351-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/jeddoumc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/4-25-2014.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/jeddoumc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/4-25-2014.mp3\" rel=\"shadowbox[sbpost-351];player=flv;width=500;height=0;\">http:\/\/jeddoumc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/4-25-2014.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>1 Peter 2:4-10(NIV)<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<h3><span id=\"en-NIV-30404\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-4\">The Living Stone and a Chosen People<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>As you come to him, the living Stone\u2014rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-30405\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-30406\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>For in Scripture it says:<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-6\">\u201cSee, I lay a stone in Zion,<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-6\">a chosen and precious cornerstone,<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"text 1Pet-2-6\">and the one who trusts in him<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-6\">will never be put to shame.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-05\"><span id=\"en-NIV-30407\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-7\">\u201cThe stone the builders rejected<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-7\">has become the cornerstone,\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-05\"><span id=\"en-NIV-30408\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>and,<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry top-05\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-8\">\u201cA stone that causes people to stumble<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-8\">and a rock that makes them fall.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none top-05\"><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-8\">They stumble because they disobey the message\u2014which is also what they were destined for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-NIV-30409\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God\u2019s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.<\/span> <span id=\"en-NIV-30410\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; 1 Peter 2:4-10(NIV) The Living Stone and a Chosen People 4\u00a0As you come to him, the living Stone\u2014rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him\u2014 5\u00a0you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
